Introduction
The Children’s Independent Safeguarding and Reviewing Officer (CIRO) reviews the care plans of all the East Riding of Yorkshire Council's Looked After Children (LAC). Their independence is essential: to allow effective challenge of practice and planning to ensure a timely and appropriate service to our children and young people in local authority care.
The 2010 Independent Review Officer's handbook lays out the foundation of the role, and responsibilities of CIRO, and an annual report is produced to reflect their achievements and performance.
